Derry reelects school board

DERRY – All incumbent school board members were reelected yesterday in light voting.

Board Chairwoman Brenda Willis (2,018), Kevin Gordon (1,689), and Kevin Linehan (1,679), will serve three-year terms.

Warrant Article 1 passed (yes, 1,901; no, 1,291, ). The article approves the school district's recommended operating budget of $73,675,024 for the 2007-08 school year.

Article 2 passed (yes, 1,951; no, 1,323). The article approves the collective bargaining agreement reached by the Derry School Board and the Derry Education Association to increase salary and benefit costs by $722,983 for the next school year.

Article 5 passed (yes, 2,043; no, 1,212). The article will allow the Derry Cooperative School Board to form a study to consider whether the district should hold its election on the same day as Derry's municipal election.

Articles 3 (yes, 2,085; no, 1,123) and 4 also were approved (yes, 2,606; no, 660).
