DERRY, N.H. -- A 15-year-old Londonderry girl was hospitalized Monday after she was struck by a car. Police said Jocelyn Proulx was struck shortly before 6 a.m. in Derry on Old Manchester Road. She suffered serious injuries and was flown to a Boston hospital. Neighbors said that they didn't notice anything until they saw police cruisers and an ambulance, and police said they aren't sure if there are any witnesses. Neighbors said that the road is not very safe, and people often walk in the street. "There's no shoulder on the road and very little room, so somebody coming around the corner would be right on someone and wouldn't know it," resident John Spezesk said. Police said it appeared that the Proulx was walking in the road when she was struck. "It appears she was walking in the northbound travel lane and would have been in the path of the car," Capt. Vernon Thomas said. "We're investigating to see if she may not have seen the car or vice versa." The driver was not injured in the crash. "There was no impairment on behalf of the driver, from what we can tell at this moment," Thomas said. Police said it was too soon to tell if any charges would be filed.
